DrSails Co-Funder and CTO Jordi Arbusà was one of the Design & Technology Symposium speakers of the 8th Yacht Racing Forum, hosted in Malta, on 28 and 29th of November after the last event for the RC44 2016 circuit.
With Jeremy Elliot (North Sails) and Sabrina Malpede (Smar Azure), Arbusà leaded the conference “What are the latest innovations in sail technology?” steered by Dobbs Davis. During the conference the discussion was about sails production evolution, design software adaptations and the human factor during the sail design and industrial manufacturing processes.
Another hot focus during the Yacht Racing Forum was about foils. The tendency is growing despite it big distance respect to production sailing cruising boats, that is the core of the industry.
But in Malta there were more interesting debates and shared ideas.
More than 280 of the brightest minds in sailing have just concluded two days of intense discussion and debate about the hot topics in sailing. Brought up a broad range of big topics that generated heated debate. Expert panels explored commercial strategies for small and medium-sized events, affordable sailing on TV, making the sport environmentally sustainable, sharing knowledge in materials innovations and trying to find the answer: ¿To foil or not to foil?
